Jerrie Cuellar Glidden
What do Weslaco and Spring, Texas;
Singapore and Scotland; flora and fauna and oil industry junkies have in common? All provide inspiration for my art.
From my favorite florals to my Scottish landscapes to my cocky roosters and abstract/collage artwork the line that flows through
all is my love of color. Soft pastels or oil or acrylic find their way onto my canvas or paper or boards. My years of organized
study with inspiring teachers such as John Holloway here in Houston or with other artists in Singapore or Scotland have presented
new ways to express my love of nature and its beauty. My years of self-directed study enable me to experiment and discover
new ways to capture beauty in a vivid and visually seductive form.
My husband’s career in the oil industry has enabled me
to not only travel the world but also to experience life and cultures in-depth in Asia and Europe. My paintings pepper the
globe in countries as diverse as Japan, Norway, Spain, Australia, Great Britain, Singapore and in many U. S. cities. For a
Rio Grande Valley girl from Weslaco and now living in Spring, Texas my career in the world of art has truly been a reaffirmation
of Henry David Thoreau’s belief that “the world is but a canvas to the imagination”.
